Arvo Pärt - Adams Passion

Arvo Pärt: One of the greats of our time! As is so often the case, great artists are misunderstood during their lifetime and enjoy an inconspicuous existence. Not so Arvo Pärt!

His home is classical music, but interestingly enough he establishes a connection to the electronic ambient music of our time, because ambient as a genre is actually also taken from classical music. Of course, the expressiveness is much greater and more intense with an orchestra, but the reduction to the essentials actually establishes a connection to ambient. Pärt's music lives from the pauses between the notes and therefore begins to breathe, vibrate and thus establishes a connection to the higher self. Contemplation or spiritual messages are always present in his music, putting the soul into rest mode. On September 11, 2015, Arvo Pärt turned 80 years old (today 2025: 89 Years!!!). In this context, Robert Wilson has come up with one of the most exciting stage events of 2015, bringing together the musical works "Adam's Lament", "Miserere", and "Tabula Rasa". Robert Wilson is a master of light, and so he performed "Adam's Passion" in an old former Soviet submarine factory in its world premiere May 15 in Talin. With actors and extras, over 100 people performed including Grammy Award winner and conductor Tönu Kaljuste. Be sure to listen and watch!

Remix: good or bad?

Music remixes – a curse or a blessing? They can breathe new life into a song, introduce it to a different audience, or simply add a fresh twist to familiar melodies.

A great remix preserves the essence of the original while reinterpreting it creatively. Some remixes even surpass the original! Critics argue that bad remixes can dilute a song’s mood. In the end, it’s a matter of taste: A remix can be an exciting evolution – or a failed experiment.

Efterklang - New Album

Efterklang come from Denmark and are one of the bands from the north. From the lyrics to the production, everything about this band is homemade, from the grain seed to the dough, so to speak.

The resulting music is positioned somewhere between post-rock and orchestral pop. This means rock with more instrumental parts, harmony and melody combined, the whole thing mixed electronically. With Efterklang, these musical subtleties make up the concept. This includes experimental alternative music that thrives on quiet tones and a perfect atmosphere. Since Efterklnang was released on the 4AD label in 2009, the band has shrunk from five to four members. Efterklang released their seventh studio album “Things We Have In Common” on September 27, 2024 via City Slang. The album focuses on friendship, belonging and personal transformation. Particularly noteworthy is the collaboration with founding member Rune Mølgaard, who played a key role in seven of the nine songs after leaving the Mormon church in 2022.

Roy Kafri

The low of vinyl sales is definitely overcome with even more positive figures. According to Amazon UK, sales increased by 100% in 2013 and even by 745% compared to 2008.

In 2023, 49.6 million vinyl albums were sold, which is a growth of almost 300% in the last eight years. The global market for vinyl records is expected to reach 2.4 billion US dollars by 2030. So it's no wonder that video artists are starting to bring the medium to life, either literally or figuratively. In Roy Kafri's video clip, well-known covers become protagonists, moving their lips to lyrics that don't want to be lyrics. The Smith, Bowie, Gainsbourg, Prince, Madonna, Jackson and many more wake up from the usual static and sing along. Wittily implemented!
