Friendly Fires - Heaven Let Me In

Friendly Fires come from England and their sound is defined by a lot of electronica, some guitar and solid percussion. You can definitely hear something popular in their sound.

Since their formation in 2006, they have been combining electronic sounds with guitars and driving drums to create a unique sound. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2008, followed by Pala in 2011. After a break, they returned in 2018 with the single “Love Like Waves” and released their third album Inflorescent in 2019. Their song “Heaven Let Me In” was released in 2018 and marked their comeback after a long break - it was produced by Disclosure, among others. In 2023, they celebrated the 15th anniversary of their debut album with a UK tour and special releases.

Easy M - Weekend

Yes - it's the weekend and Easy M zelbrates it subtly but clearly! After a quick search, I found out that this pop dark disco track was released by Nang Records.

It could just as easily have come out on “Italians do it better” - Chromatics send their regards... An additional surprise is that the band is based in Moscow and is still totally unknown!!! It would be good to hear if the Russian oligarchs could develop a heart for international music, because Easy M is a genuine band with solid musicians, as you can clearly see and hear from the YouTube recording. Unfortunately, the sound quality is not outstanding! I'm curious to see what else is coming...

Foxygen - San Francisco

With “San Francisco,” the American duo Foxygen released a playful indie hit in 2013 that sounds like a dreamy postcard from the 60s. Gentle guitars, airy melodies, and charming vocal duets define the track.

Foxygen – made up of Sam France and Jonathan Rado – blend retro vibes with a wink of irony, fusing psychedelia with a sunny California mood. The lyric “I left my love in San Francisco” floats in like a bittersweet breeze. The song is from the album “We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic” – a fitting title for their whimsical, genre-blending style. A true indie gem!

Dye - Fantasy

We recently stumbled across this video by DyE. The track is called Fantasy and, despite the video, it's a nice, calm number.

The video, however, is not for sissies. What starts out as a calm and wet teenage dream suddenly turns into a homemade nightmare. The video was made by the exceptional talent and young virtuoso Jérémie Périn, who was also involved in the iPhone game “Truckers Delight”.

Update: Update: Unfortunately, the video is no longer on YouTube. So just listen to the song.

EVERYTHING EVERYTHING (UK)

The 2010 album Man Alive shines with this single release “MY KZ, UR BF”, but not only with this song - the whole album is a listen and really worthwhile.

Together with the other three members, frontman Jonathans gives this band an unusual sound and will probably not only inspire their hometown of Manchester, because the band really knows how to set indie songs to music in a popular way, but not only. Their complex arrangements, socially critical lyrics and the distinctive falsetto voice of singer Jonathan Higgs make them unmistakable. Songs like “Distant Past” or “MY KZ, UR BF” show their love of experimentation and musical versatility.
