Riva Starr feat Rssll "Absence"
The latter is well known for her BBC Radio 1 shows on Friday and Sunday evenings, while Gilles Peterson also has a strong reputation across Europe. The video and music for "Absence" are a successful fusion of creative imagery and exemplary sound design — something that has sadly become increasingly rare as a complete art form in recent years. All the more refreshing, then, to be presented with a clear aesthetic that was clearly not left to chance: surreal elements collide with almost esoteric soundscapes, beautifully interwoven with a catchy pop vocal melody. When Riva Starr emerged on the house scene in 2009, no one quite expected a track like this — now set to be released as a single from his upcoming album "Hands In Hands" (March 11, 2013).
Favela Gold - Life is such a gift
With the encouraging, affirming title “Life is such a gift”, the video clip focuses on children and celebrates the golden side of family life. We've rarely heard children's choirs and electropop before and the song radiates an infectious feel-good vibe that has nothing to do with favelas. Nice Vid!
Boards of Canada
The music is like sequences in slow motion and sometimes you get the feeling that time stands still for a brief moment. As the perfect soundtrack for a nocturnal dream, the sound collages up to the 2005 album “The Campfire Headphase” would fit perfectly.
Broken Bells - The high road
Brian Burton and James Mercer met in the studio for the first time in 2008 and released the precursor “The high Road” for their only album for the time being (Broken Bells) in 2010. The song is therefore no longer dewy, which it doesn't have to be, as it is more reminiscent of a fine red wine that has been allowed to age for decades. Tip: The song is perfect for a morning drive with the sunrise!
Burning Tears
The dubby track with Jamaican influences and a soulful touch is carried by a synth pad, making it an excellent soundtrack for night-time reveries. Burning Tears is reminiscent of Rockers Hi-Fi in the good old days. Black music meets electronica! More of this please...
