Marsimoto - Ich Tarzan, du Jane

Marsimoto, the green alter ego of German rapper Marteria, made his musical debut in 2006 with the album Halloziehnation. This work marked the beginning of his career as Marsimoto and was celebrated for his experimental style and characteristic pitched voice, which is now the normal standard.

In April 2024, he released his fifth studio album KEINE INTELLIGENZ, which once again showcases his signature blend of psychedelic beats, socially critical lyrics and quirky humor with 17 tracks. Following the album release, Marsimoto embarked on an extensive farewell tour through Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands. This tour was announced as his last live performance, making the concerts special events for the fans.

Lyrics example: ...don't have to think, have long since thought everything through, never again do you have to give me a present, lay me down to you, just say goodnight to you, have to go away, have to end it, you understand me, we're moving out of the city, flying over walls and borders, have no enemies, the crocodiles are fed up...

Metric - Help I'm Alive

Synthetica is the 5th studio album by the Canadian band Metric, which was founded in New York in 1998. At the center of the album is singer Emily Haines, whose voice is reminiscent of Alison Goldfrapp, but doesn't come close to her extraversion.

Metric play in a different league of the alternative genre, where contemporary social issues have their place. Synthetica refers to the statement by singer Haines: “It's about what is real versus what is artificial”. This is not to say that modern technology is rejected, but the boundaries are fluid and so you often no longer know whether something has been created naturally or whether something artificial has already been integrated, as in plastic cosmetic medicine, for example.

Is Daft Punk a scam?

Is Daft Punk a scam? Critics accuse the duo of relying too heavily on sampling – using existing music pieces and rearranging them.

But is that art or theft? Sampling is a well-established technique in electronic music, though it often operates in a legal gray area. Daft Punk always obtained licenses and credited original artists, but some fans wonder if their hits would exist without those samples. The fact remains: They transformed old sounds into something entirely new – and that is an art form

DOK: Vinylmania - Covers & Music

“Vinylmania – When Life Runs at 33 Revolutions per Minute” is a heartwarming documentary that explores the unique fascination with vinyl records.

Directed by Paolo Campana, the film dives into the lives of collectors, DJs, record store owners, and music lovers who have stayed loyal to vinyl through the digital age From Tokyo to San Francisco to Paris, the film captures how vinyl is more than just a format — it's a way of life, a symbol of high-quality sound, nostalgia, and intentional music listening. The tactile experience, the large artwork, the warm crackle of the needle — all these elements make listening a ritual. “Vinylmania” shows that vinyl never really disappeared. It has become a symbol of musical passion and slower, more mindful consumption — and with sales now surpassing CDs, it's clearly striking a chord with a new generation of listeners.

Easy Going - Fear

A good friend of mine pointed this out to me, so I'm now pointing out this well-aged disco-funk track from 1979!

You can clearly hear high-energy elements, which probably come from master-mind Claudio Simonetti. Simonetti was also keyboarder for Goblin and composer of various horror movie soundtracks from the 70s. Claudio was born into a family of musicians in San Palulo and later studied music composition and piano in Rome. A classical education gave him access to progressive rock, or Italian pop, in the early 70s! Simonetti is considered a pioneer of Italo disco!
